You've moved over to Office 365 for your email, so now what?

A fantastic benefit of having a platform fully managed by Microsoft is that it is always up-to-date with the latest features.

One of these new features is the ability to run applications directly within your Outlook mail or webmail client. These applications can provide context sensitive information relevant to the current email or calendar entry you are viewing.

Let's take a quick look at one of the applications available in the Office App Store: LinkedIn.

Once enabled by your administrator, you will notice a LinkedIn button appear in each of your new emails.

Clicking this button causes the LinkedIn App to launch and scan for any contacts found in your email. If they are found in LinkedIn, the application will show more detailed information about the person and allow you to connect to them, for example.

This is just an example of a relatively basic application, Office 365 also allows you to upload your own bespoke applications and they can be provisioned to a subset of users if required. They can also be enabled by default for all users in your organisation.

Best of all however, these applications run on every platform: Outlook, Webmail and the official OWA iPad client.
