Just announced today is the general availability of two UK datacenters for Azure and Office 365.

This is fantastic news for UK based Partners and customers who can now deploy Azure solutions in the UK to comply with data legislation / location laws and provides a closer geographic deployment for high speed UK services.

There are two new datacenters announced, both located in the UK: 'UK West' and 'UK South'. This effectively means that full Disaster Recovery scenarios can be deployed in redundant datacenters without data having to leave the UK. This applies to high availability for Storage, SQL as a service, Azure backup, etc.

Polymorph have been a member of the private preview of the UK datacenters and have been actively involved in the testing for some months, at present not all services are available in the UK but the primary services are up:

  • Virtual Machines and Networking
  • Storage
  • SQL as a service
  • Web Apps

New services are coming online every day, so stay tuned to this page for more info https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/regions/services/

If you are interested in moving services to the UK cloud, please get in touch via the contact form below.
