Following a rigorous tender process, Polymorph were chosen as the preferred partner for the project and immediately set about assisting with the design of a Microsoft Azure private cloud supporting Microsoft Exchange to migrate the IBM Lotus Domino platform. A detailed project plan was established and scrutinised by all parties as well as establishing regular reporting mechanisms. Dell's (Quest) software was deployed onto appropriate migration servers to support the process of co-existence and the migration itself. The project was completed to plan and to budget, thus paving the way for the wider transformation project to continue. See the case study for more details.

Two UK datacenters announced for Azure and Office 365

azuredatacentre_blog.jpg

This is fantastic news for UK based Partners and customers who can now deploy Azure solutions in the UK! There are two new datacenters announced, both located in the UK: 'UK West' and 'UK South'. This effectively means that full Disaster Recovery scenarios can be deployed in redundant datacenters without data having to leave the UK. This applies to high availability for Storage, SQL as a service, Azure backup, etc. Polymorph have been a member of the private preview of the UK datacenters and have been actively involved in the testing for some months, at present not all services are available in the UK but the primary services are up: Virtual Machines and Networking, Storage, SQL as a service and Web Apps.

Microsoft Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Microsoft have recently released the first major update to their Windows 10 PC platform. Appropriately this release, following on a year after the public launch of Windows 10, has been called the ‘Anniversary Edition’ or, in technical terms, version 1607. Although it retains the overall look and feel of Windows 10 the Start menu has been visibly changed. In particular, important features such as File Explorer, Settings and Power are now readily available at the left hand side of the Start menu.
