Ferrero UK delighted with their new upgraded SharePoint intranet

Challenge

Ferrero is an Italian manufacturer of branded chocolate and confectionery products and it is the third biggest chocolate producer and confectionery company in the world. Present in the UK since 1966, Ferrero UK is recognised for iconic brands such as Ferrero Rocher, Tic Tac, Nutella and Kinder Surprise.

Ferrero have been using Microsoft SharePoint for their company intranet since 2003 but was in need of an overhaul to provide a more modern, fresh and appealing look for their users, as well as to improve business process management in key business areas. “The old intranet was quite old fashioned in terms of design and usage” says Ferrero’s Sales Execution Manager. “It was not easy to upload things and move around. We wanted a redesign of the portal to make it easier to find things, upload things and have a centralised point for information”.

Solution

Ferrero’s IT Development Manager was set the task to find a company with qualified SharePoint consultants who had experience in SharePoint branding, SharePoint design and SharePoint intranet upgrades. Polymorph, with offices in London and the North West, were found from a Google search and subsequently chosen as the partner for this SharePoint intranet upgrade project. Polymorph redeveloped Ferrero’s company intranet to SharePoint 2013 with a complete redesign, improving functionality, branding as well as modernising the way in which staff work. In order to achieve this, Polymorph have migrated ten years' worth of accumulated data regarding, clients, marketing, sales and operations. During this transfer of content, data was assessed and graded based on its age and access frequency and some data was archived accordingly.

Result

Polymorph helped Ferrero understand and use new functionalities of SharePoint 2013, new tools such as Quicklinks to easily find information and access data. A key requirement was to improve the user interface, usability, look, feel and navigation of the portal. This has been achieved and the feedback of the new design has been extremely positive within Ferrero. The speed has improved and the response from the business has been favourable. “Our working relationship with Polymorph has been fantastic” added Ferrero’s IT Director. “This has led to an ongoing SharePoint support contract with Polymorph and the IT support staff are very responsive and reactive”.

The launch of the first phase of the new intranet has enabled staff to collaborate in real-time as well as function more efficiently around certain business processes and we look forward to continuing our relationship and development with Ferrero to further expand their use of SharePoint’s features across the business.
