Cheque out HSBC UK Bank's new Bubble Hub

Polymorph re-develop HSBC's Bubbles community to help provide users with up to date information on 'bubbles' raised across the UK.

Bubbles community is a learning & development platform which shows challenges or problems and their solutions. The Bubbles Hub was created in HSBC which allows branches throughout the UK to identify issues and raise these issues as a ‘bubble’.

A bubble is an idea. Anyone can raise a bubble describing the problem and how they solved it. The point of the bubbles community is to raise awareness within the business as a ‘bubble’ and to celebrate the ‘popstars’ who raise and solves them.

HSBC have a system that collects these ideas, but the system they were using did not promote the bubbles community and popstars in an accessible and visually engaging manner. The requirement for HSBC was to create a fully functional front end for the current Bubbles Hub which raises awareness of new bubbles whilst being accessible over many devices.

HSBC required Polymorph to create a showcase site for the Bubbles Hub that would provide users with up to date information on bubbles raised across the UK.

SharePoint was the chosen platform for the new Bubbles Hub as it is a part of HSBC’s core business strategy.

Key features of the new portal included:

  • Social features – likes and ratings
  • Yammer like conversational features
  • Popstars and their associates to share videos
  • Community admin to create stories around these videos
  • Engaging users in social ways
  • Building more social awareness

HSBC have seen a massive spike in usage of the Bubble Hub since the site went live. In the first month 1,200 people were using it, in the second there was over 3,800 and the numbers are going up every month as different regions go live.
